Branding and SEO-focussed web design for Entertainment Nation
A long-standing client relationship started with the Brand
Entertainment Nation is the UK’s most exciting entertainment agency, representing the UK’s top musicians and acts available to perform at weddings , corporate events and party celebrations.
Their website is the shop window to thousands of bands and entertainers that are available to hire for events throughout the UK.
Ergo has worked with them over many years, initially helping with improving the brand and more recently on their web platform.
Creating a clean responsive UI and an evolving website
Our initial involvement with the website was to create a clean responsive design that displayed all the entertainment offerings in a modern and bold style.
It also required smart coding to create the perfect search and categorisation tool for users to browse and filter entertainers.
Over time the site has evolved and new iterations of the site were needed. Additional functionality was required to allow approved entertainers to create their own profiles. Traditionally profiles had only been created by tech-savvy Entertainment Nation, so a new easy to use content management system was vital.
A third ongoing project has been Search Engine Optimisation** SEO** and ensuring they stay ahead of their competitors.
From humble beginnings to SEO Rockstar
It was inevitable that the site was going to evolve over a period of time but it was important to get the Minimum Viable Product (MVP) of the site built quickly.
For MVP the key pages were home, contact, about and entertainers, with entertainers being the most important. It required a relational MySQL database that allowed for the complicated searches, filtering and ordering of entertainers. A custom PHP framework, with HTML templating, was built and connected to this database. With this the initial site was born.
As the site grew rapidly the need for entertainers to self-manage their portfolios became high priority. The PHP framework was extended and a backend added, with multiple tiers of permissions to manage entertainer profiles. All profiles are managed in a step by step process with rich text editors, audio and video uploaders and a custom tool to add images and preview them as they will be displayed on the site. The system then auto generates images to optimised sizes for mobile through to desktop devices.
Over the time the site has been managed, Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) has evolved and Ergo have worked continually to make sure page speed is as high as possible and new SEO techniques are integrated as quickly as possible. This has involved working directly with google to extract every last ounce of performance from the servers.
