Highly creative illustration designs for new educational magazine Insights published by international school operator Nord Anglia Education
The brief
Nord Anglia Education is a global network of schools that offer academic excellence, world class teachers, exceptional learning experiences and social purpose. With a head office in London and centres across the world, they own more than 80 schools and educational institutions across Europe, Asia, The Americas and The Middle East.
They approached us with an idea to create a magazine filled with articles written by experts on topics related to education and technology. We were asked to design something engaging, unique, eye-catching, dynamic and playful.
The process
In our first iterations, we were given complete freedom to design highly creative illustrations and imagery that were a complete departure from all brand guidelines and existing styles. This presented a challenge because they had never created a magazine before and were open to a completely fresh look - our main challenge was deciding how far to go with it, and how far is too far?
However, when the designs were presented to the client, we worked closely with them, taking on board their feedback and slowly adjusting it to sit more comfortably alongside their existing brand styles, while still retaining a uniquely creative look.
Since then, they’ve built a website with all their articles on, and that meant creating versions of the illustrations and imagery to meet this digital application. We also created a downloadable version of the magazine articles.
The result
To achieve this highly creative and eye-catching design, all members of the wider design team came together and worked collaboratively on ideas and execution. The result was a visual triumph that was met with exceptional positivity:
